WOMEN'S NATIONAL RESERVE

PALMERSTON NORTH. The annual meeting of the Palmerston North branch of the Women's.National Rcscrvo was held last rack.' The Mayor, Mr. J. A. Nash, .presided, and there was a good attendance of members.

The report stated that tho past year had been one of constant activity. As a result of a deputation from the Citizens' Food Production League, a committee was elccied, and circulars were distributed showing the necessity of growing all the foodstutf possible, The results, from this have been most satisfactory. During tho commercial travellers' campaign, tho members of the reserve put their wholehearted energy into the scheme, selling if), 000 tickets. The commercial travellers allocated <£250 for the use of the W.N.R., of which' 1 .£l5O has l)eeu 6pcnt in buying three sewing machines and a quantity of lted Cross material. Moiiey had been collected for Rumanian and other funds, The • expenditure for the year was. JM-t Ills, •kl., leaving a credit balance of .£l7 2s. Id. Tho months of February and March wero spent in making 17,G15/ badges,,all of which were sold, bringing a -considerable sum of money to the Sick and Wounded Fund.

In moving the adoption of tho report and balance-sheet, the chairman thanked the president, Lady Chaytor, and the members of the committee for _ -their able assistance and good work in connection'with all patriotic efforts. Ho also congratulated Lady Chaytor on the honour conferred on her husband, General Chaytor, who was loved and honoured ' by his .men .and respected throughout the. Dominion.

Lady Chaytor. in reply, thanked the chairman and all present for their good wishes expressed on behalf of her husband and herself. She congratulated the members on the good work that had been done. ' The committee had 'done its share of work. Pome members had been obliged to give up through various reasons, but others had come to take their place. She thanked the Press, the committee, outside worlds. and school children for their generous help, also tho commercial travellers for their.'gift of material, nnd the borough council for the free use of a room. The following officers wero elected for the ensuing voirPresident, T.ady Chaytor; vice-president, Mrs. ,T. A. Nnsh; secretary, Miss Duff; treasurer, Mrs.' J. J. Whitehead. The ■ old committee was re-elected.
