In tho presence of a fair number of spectators, and in delightful weather, the Marist and Y.M.C.A. senior elevens gave a fine oxpostion of "soccer" football at Association Park, Lyoll Bay. Y.M.C.A. kicked oIV facing a bright sun, mid immediately invaded Marist goal men. where Marist conceded a corner, but Marisl's backs were equnl to the occasion, and piny was removed to midfiold. From a throw-in Y.M.C.A.'s right wing got moving, but when dangerous Anld (Mnrisl) intervened, nnd Marist's forwards wero seen in a nico piece of combined play, which ended in Arthur Lowo driving a little wide. The Y.M.C.A. forwards for a short period treated Hid spectators to some clever work in front of Marisl's goalmouth—no less tlmn three corners, which were well placed by Ives, being awarded in rapid succession, but J [ayes (goalkeeper) frustrated all their efforts in lino style. At length Curfathers and Fitzgerald removed piny to midiield with line, hefty kicks, where Coleman (.Marist) helped his side considerably with n fine solo effort, finding touch well in Y.M.C.A.'s goal area. Prom the throw-in Marist's left wing gained possession, and centred the ball nicely to It. Marshall, who sent in a hot drive, but Sinclair (Y.M.C.A.'s goalkeeper) saved nicely, and leturned tho ball to niidfield. A mimrt piece of combined work by Y.M.C.A. ensued. Ballard (centre forward) obtained possession, and, drawin:; Auld nut of position, sent on to l'llford. then to Baker, but the latter threw away a golden opportunity by kicking ion high. Aided by their backs, Y.M.C A.'s lurwards at this sUigo were getting slightly tho better of the contra!:, and Marisl's backs wero hard put to it in keeping them from scoring. With the sounding of the whistlo for half-tiioo Y.M.C.A. were still on the. attnek, wilh honours even, neither side having scored.

Cashman, Arthur I,owe, and Harold Marshall were prominent, the latter sent in a shot which completely bent Sinclair, Marist, 1; Y.M.C.A., 1. Urged on by their respective supporters, both teams put forth some fine efforts, but with the. sounding of the whistle no alteration had been made to the score, the teams leaving the Held with honours oven.
