HUTT BOWLING AND TENNIS CLUB
4 ANNUAL MEEETING.
The fifteenth annual meeting/of. tho Ifutt Bowling and Tennis Club was held on Thursday evening.
The year ended with a credit balance of ,£94 9s. Id., a deficit on the,year's working of £'2i- Is. Sd. This, though regrettable, was not considered unsatisfactory, as members' subscriptions were ,L' 32 lis. 3d. less, and the caretaker's wages .£l9 Is. more, than last year. There tad been a net increase" of seven members, and the membership was at present 160. Thirty members were on active service, the majority of whom paid no fees during the year. The "Duthie" Cup during the year had been won by the-Wellington Clnb. The winners of tho club competitions during the year were as follow:— Champion, Singles and Wilford Cnp, A. Macitskill; Junior Singles, P. Murphy; Open Pairs, .T. Davidson and .T. Barlow; Club Pairs, T. C. Dawson and J. Barlow; Club Rink, H. Jav, J. Kmningfon, F. Meyrick, and C. It. Treadwtll (s.). Among the section winners at the Centre Tourney was the rink skipped by Mr. W. Nicholson. Mr. T. Norm's rink I cached the semi-final in-the Masterton Tourney. A most successful concert was given, under the direction of Mr. E. J. Hill, in aid of tho funds of ■ the Patriotic Guild, and the sum of .£l4l Its. Gd. was realised. The. amount donated .by tho club to this fund np to date is approximately J5300. The tennis and croquet clubs "had an enjoyable and successful season. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. A motion by Mr. J. L. Barlow, having for its object the raising of the subscription, was defoatcd, it being considered wiser to adhere to the Resent plan of making a levy on members, should occasion require it, Tho following officers were elected:— President, Mr. J. L. Barlow; rice-presi-dents. Messrs. 1. C. Dawson, W. J. Eddio and K. Y- Shearer; lion, secretary, Mr. J. Davidson; lion, treasurer, Mr. W. Nicholson; committee, Messrs,. illport, Hodgins, Knight, Macaskill, Mowbray, Simpson, Tcagle, Treadwell, and Watt: match committees, Saturday, Messrs. Eddie, Hodgins, and Shearer; Wednesday, Messrs. Meyrick, Mowbray, and Simpson. Mr. W. J. Gardner was re-elected hon. auditor. •
