THE COPPER TRAIL
ATJCKLAXD SCORES AGAIN. "Auckland copper trail reached Taumarunui on Saturday. Advance of 23 miles. Compliments." This triumphant message .came at the week-end to the 'Wellington lied Cross copper brail workis, who replied that Wellington had •icuieved four miks to Otaki, a total of •16 miles, compared with Auckland's 175. During- the last fortnight Auckland has raised over .£27,000 for the Red Jersoy, in addition to itfi Ked Cross effort, so that it cannot bo said that the Capital City and neighbouring areas are handicapped compared with the northern contributing area. Sufficient information is to hand now to indicate that Wellington will make a livelier move next week. Some excellent money-raising schemes are being perfected locally to speed the long trail.
