FORMATION OF WELLINGTON BRANCH. At a meeting of citizens held last week, Mr. L. 0. H. Tripp (Consuhr Agent for Italy) in the chair, it was decided to form a Wellington branch of the Italian Red Cross Society. The following officers were eleeled;—President, Mr. J. P.Luke, C.M.G., M.P.; trustees, Messrs. C. t.t. Wilson and L. 0. ,H. Tripp; secretary, Mr. H. Coleman; assistant secretary, Mrs. A. Cox; treasurer, Mr. J. H. Hellivvell; committee, Messrs. L. 0. 11. Tripp (chairman); J. Clarke, W. Marshall, Renai, Milesi, C. ,6. Wilson, Captain Munro, J. H. Ilclliwell, .Torgenson, W. Siinm, C. Smith, T. Young, W. Puller, Mesdames M. Myers, A. E. I'earcc. W. Nathan, Preston, Tripp, Luke,, Moorhouse, and Cot. It was decided lo have an .Italian Day on September 20, the Italian national day, and that all towns aud districts in tho Wellington military area be pfked to assist, 'lhe week-ending September 20 will be mado an Italian Week, during which an Italian market will lie held at the Town Hall. Tho chairman pointed out that from information lie had received from the War Funds Office tho moneys sent; from New Zealand foi the benefit of the Italian lied Cross were under ,£2509, and he felt that now an appeal was being made tho people of New Zealand would subscribe 'liberally to tho fund.
