KARORI CAR FARES

Last evening the City Council passed the following resolution:—"That .this ! council do not accede to '.lie request of the Karori Borough Council with re«pect lo the extra halfpenny yer car milo, charged in connection with the . Karori tramway, viz., that the charge shall not apply I" the extension line beyond Johnston Street." ' The Mayor said that councillors no doubt regrotted that the fares could not ' bo lowered. The cost'of running tlio tramway services was increasing heavily, ■ Tho net increase in the last quarter, as compared with the corresponding-period ; of last ye<vr, was about .£'l2oo.
