The purpose of tiie i'uml is to enable, members of the overseas forces who are ■unfit for further active service to undergo ' a course of higher educational training in Great Britain, provided they are nominated by the High Commissioners for tho Dominions to which they belong and that, they (-onii! within the following conditions:—(a) Graduated at «n overseas university; (l>) had their studies at an overseas university intorilifted by tho will to .serve; (c'i passed oxaminations of university entrance standard, but have not attended <i university; (d) had practically no education since leaving schoql nt an early a;;e, but linvo developed considerable character and power of thought and would benefit greatly by a course of study ivt u university; (e) attended technical schools or been engaged in occupations demanding a high standard of technical knowledge. The naval or military status of n scholar maj bo 'that of a retired officor or discharged man, or an officer or man still serving and (a) .on leave «nd in receipt of pay, or (b) on. leave without pay. The rniversities and technical cchools havo intimated that theV will welcome such students, and will provide one-yeai- courses of study designed for their special needs . Allocation of Scholarships.. Tho scholarships, which arc of tho an--3i mi I value of j>lso to .£250 each, according to tho university, college, or school selected, are caluclated amply to cover ihe expenses of tuition and other fees «ud tho coat of living.
