KARORI BOROUGH
JIEETIXG OP THE COUNCIL. The fortnightly meeting of the Karori Borough Coniicfl" was held last evening, tho Mayor (Mr. B. Ci. H. Burn) presiding, and there were iirescn!: Councillors \V. Skegg, R. L. Tiiujcy, 'I.'. W. Lewor, W. G. Bradnock, and H. U. Dry den. A circular letter was received from tho Gisborne Borough Council covering a resolution passed by that council and asking for the support of Iho Karori Borough Council. The resolution was as follows:—"That this council, at the request of the returned soldiers and public generally, approach (lie Government and a3k them to intern all enemy aliens without exception whatever during tho period of the war (and to utilise tin- fervices of Mich aliens in a manner which will return valuo to the. State), and if the Government does not possess sufficient authority, (hat the necessary '■■gislation be passed at tho coming sessi-.iu of Parliament, and that the pnneiiwl local juilliorities of tho Dominion bo written to asking their co-operation and support in this matter. 'Alien enemy' means and includes every person who is or has at any time beeri b subject of any State with 'which Hia Majesty is now at war, notwithstanding that such wr.son may bo also'by birth, naturalisation or otherwise a British sifbject, or may have in any manner ceased to ba a subject of any such State." The;council decided to support the re* solution.
