THE NAVY'S WAY
AN INCIDENT AND A. MOEAjj. It will be remembered that at tlio Battle of Jutland the battle-cvuiser Queen Mary was sunk, with lyavj loss of life. That was one of the larjjar incidents of the fight. Here is a sidelight on the passing of this magnificent battle-cruiser, with all colours flying, in defiance to the last. It shown the Navy's way, which is the British vay, and'the wiiy every young Briton (should bo taught to go. As Hie men ,of tho Queen Mary wero struggling Hi the water—for some came rescue, for others there was no hope—the next ship in the, line came foaming up in the press of the battle. And as she passed, the men of the Queen Mary, swimming year by, trod water and cheered her: "(ret into it!" they veiled. (They didn t call for help, for that is not the Navy s way.). It is for the dependants of t.lwise men, for their comrades who are ah-ve ar.d still sharing the perils of mrn.es, torpedoes, and the elements, thjst ncoplo to-day are collecting all over the Lmnire. Here in Wellington there is a bodv of tireless workers, whuse object is to swell the fund for the Navy League s patriotic purnoses. In another column (in "Woman's World") will be found something al>out this effort-n.-hat is bein*'done,'who should help, and how, and when. This money is constantly wanted for tliere are numerous ways of spending it—for the Navy. After that brilliant Zceb'rugge affair, money was sent for tho dependants of those who p-ave up their lives in that, gallant attack, for those who were hViftj and for the general comfort of all.
