GRADING OF TEACHERS
DISSATISFACTION IN AUCKLAND,

Auckland, July 20. Considerable disnatistaction ousts among teachers iu Groups 3 and 1 under the grading regulations. In tho Auckland district tne grading othcers under the present system aro the inspector, irlio are considered to be the most experienced men in this work in the Dominion. It is alleged that after the inspectors have allotted their marks there has been interference on the part ot tne Assistant Director of Education who, it is stated, has ordered a reduction m marks. Tho result is that teaohcre aro placed iu a lower grade than would otherwise bo the case. A. representative deputation of teachere waited on the Minister of Education (the Hon. J. Hanan) in reference to thu matter last' evening. It was alleged, among other things, that teachers in tho two groups who strenuously opposed the present system, of grading when it was introduced, have since been tho subject of victimisation in the direction inuiThe 'Minister promised to look into tho I matter on his return to Wellington.
