HIDE, SKIN, AND TALLQW SALES

The various brokers held their hide, skin, and tallow,sales yesterday.

Meesrs. Dalgety aud Company, Limited, report that they submitted a good catalogue of medium-weight hides. Competition was anything but keen, and when compared with last sale prices heavy ox were fully from hi. to jd. per lb. lower, mediuin-TVcights showing about the same- doclino. Light ox and good cow wero on a par with last sale. The offering of calfskins was smaller than usual, and prices were lower, this, no doubt being mainly due to the inferior nuality. Competition for tallow was fair, and prices again showed a slight drop.

Messrs. Murray, llobcrls, and Co. offered a catalogue of 426 hides ami ICO calfskins, also 156 packages of tallow, to an average attendance of buyers. Hides showed <i decline of from Jd. to Jd, per Hi. for ox hides in good condition, wllilc cows barciy maintained last sale's rates, being about 3d. per lb. on the average lower than last Bale's pricce. The-.New Zealand Farmers' 00-operative Distributing Co., Ltd., reports that hide values show little change from last auctions, there being rather a better demand for damaged or faulty lines. Tallow was in better demand at a slight advance on recent rates.
