A GOOD WAR IIECOKD. "Several times," stilted (ho Hon. Sir James Allen (Acting-Primo Minister and Minister of Defence) to a Dominion reporter yesterday, "the question has been asked as to tho'New Zealand Staff Corps, whether they would be all sent to (lie war. When the war broke out tho New Zealand Staff Corps was 84 strong, and since that time seventeen cadets, graduates of the Duntrooii Military College, havo been taken oh tho strength, bringing the total to 101. Of these 77 have embarked on active service, ten were transferred to the J!oyal New Zealand Artillery and to active service, two vero retained in New Zealand to t fill, special appointments, ten were retained as being unfit for activo service, one was transferred to the New Zealand Ordnance Corps, and one was returned unlit for further service. Of the 77 who embarked on active service, twelve wero killed in action, one died on .service, 11 nrfi still serving in the Hxprditionary Forces, nineteen have returned to New Zealand on duty, three have returned to New Zealand for rothnwnl, one has been transferred to tho Imjiprial Army. Of the officers who have returned, some have again become (it ior active service, arid these will return to the fixpeditionary Forces from lini" to tinic a? suitable officers are found to fill their places. "Up to date the ottcers in the Now Zealand Staff Corps have been awarded 101 British and foreign decorations, an average of one each.' •
