; a-- - MEETING OF'THIS COUNCIL. A very short meeting of 'the Miramaillorougli Council wus held 'ast evening, the Mayor (Mr. Fy Townsend) presided, and there were present:—Councillors S. K Underwood, M. Tracy, W. 11. Green, K. K. Robortshaw, and C. 11. Chapman. A report was received with reference to tho lire which occurred at Mrs. M'Vicar's house, and it was stated that owing to tho promptness of the brigade verv liflle damage was done. The Minister of Public Health wrote stating that after attending a conference between tho various contributing local authorities and- the Wellington Hospital Hoard ho had approved of the estimated expenditure of the board for 'he current rear and Hie corresponding levy on the borough. Councillors expressed the hope that somo relief would be granted before the following year's estimates were framed. I
