GUNMEN IN SYDNEY
JEWEL ROBBERY SUSPECT FIRES AT DETECTIVES. (800. July 18, 10.20 p.m.) Sydney,' July 18. There has been a sequel to the motorcar jewel robbery- The police learned that the thieves * would attempt to dispose of (ho proceeds, and set a trap at certain pawnbrokers' shops. A man appeared at one of them, but evidently recognised tho detective on duty there, and fired point-blank, wounding the detective twice, An exciting chase followed, in which other detectives joined. Fifteen shots wcro exchanged. Tho suspect escaped.—Press A6sn.
