IMPERIAL COURT OF APPEAL..
PROPOSAL TO IMPERIAL CONFERENCE
MR. HUGHES'S MOTION (Rec. July 19, 1.30 a.m.) London,-July 17.; The Imperial Conference- discussed Mr. Hughes's resolution for the creation of a now Imperial Court of Appeal, replacing the Privy Council. In a lengthy argument Mr. Hughes outlined his project, which included tho appointment of Dominions representatives. Tho conference, including tho Lord Chancellor, generally concurred in the logic for n change, New Zealand, on tho whole, heartily supporting Mr. Hughes. Strong opposition developed on tho grounds of practicability, the Lord Chancellor- and others urging that drastic changes would require upheaval in methods uf procedure, which was not desirable. The discussion was adjourned.— United Service.
