SECOND DIVISION TEACHERS
EDUCATION BOARD DECIDES NOT * TO APPEAL. By Telegraph-Press Association Dunedin, July 18. The Education Board to-day considered u memorandum from tho Department suggesting that all Second Division teachers should bo appealed for by boards. It was resolved that tho v board refrain from appealing for teachers in. the meantime. The decision not to appeal on behalf of any teacher called up for military service was a recommendation in tho report of the Finance Committee which was approved by the Auckland Board of Education on Tuesday. The recommendation was made after consideration of a communication from the Director' of Education with reference to tho withdrawal of teachers for active service. It was decided to advise tho Minister accordingly. The report also contained tho advice that teachers on personnel of hospital ships would be granted leave of absence without pay between the commissions of hospital ships. This is in accordance with the request of the board. .
