ACCOUNTANT STUDENTS

PUBLIC SPEAKING COSrrETITION. The monthly meeting of the Wellington Accountant Students' Society was held at the Accountants' Chambers last evening. Thero was a good attendance of members, who were presided °™ r IjJ the president of the society (Mr. E. V. Hunt). For the past seven years Sir. Hunt has donated a trophy for a public speaking competition, and this competition formed the business ot the evening. Mr. John S. Barton acted as judge, and awarded first place to Mr. W. Crawford Young, whose subject was "The Use of Percentages in Accounts. Votes of thanks to the judge and competitors and to Mr. Hunt for donation of the trophy, concluded to enjoyable and useful evening.
