PRESENTED BY KAISER'S GRANDFATHER, By Telegraph—Press Association Christchurch, July IG._ The German bells that have hung in the tower of the old German church at the corner of Worcester Street and Montreal Street for many years will bo taken down in accordance with the instructions of the Acting-Prime Minister. They wcro obtained by Mr. Ruddenklau, formerly a prominent citizen of this city and at ono time Mayor, about 40 years ago, when ha visited Germany. It was a comparatively few years after tho Franco-German War. A German Clnirch had been established in Christchurch, and the bells were made out of Trench cannon captured during the war. Tho bells wrro presented io the church by the Emperor William, tho grandfather of the present Kaiser.
