ABEIVAL OF BATTLE-BROKEN SOLDIEES. Draft No. 167 arrived at the Kirk's Wharf at 1.15 p.m.. yesterday to the 6ound of heartening music from a band, considerately located at the end of the wharf, 'i'ho draft consisted of 18 officers, two cliaplaine. one nurse, and 320 non-commisdioued officers and men, in all 311 souls. These, however, were not the. only passengers, and the admixture made lor ft pleasant voyage for all concerned. .Thanks to the lons sea-voyage the majority of the men looked very well. iThere wero no co.t cases and only four men had lost limbs as the result of their war oxperionce. T.he Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke), with a Rood etock of apples, orauges, and cigarettes, went off to meet the men, and as the vessel had touched nowhere on the voyage, his oft'erinfts .were joyously received, and ha was voted •"a jolly good fellow" by nil on board. ■Mr. Luko gave the men a hearty welcome ■Lome and hoped that they would all soon recover their health completely. Tho Volunteer Motor Corps, under Captain W. Pryor, was in full attendance, and rendered all tho aid in their power in conveying the men to their homos or the railway stations. Tho Auckland men were sent north by a second express, and tho southern men went south ey tho Maori last evening.
