DEATH OF MR. 0. C. COOPER

Mr. Ormond C. Cooper, brother of Mr. D. G.- A. Cooper, S.M., of Wellington, who was seriously injured as a result of an accident in Molesworth Street on Wednesday afternoon last,. died at the Thornton"Private Hospital on Saturday. The late Mr. Cooper, who was managing director of the stock department of tha Wairarnpa Farmers' Co-operative Association at Masterton, was a most populn.r resident of the district, and was a son of the late Mr. G. S. Cooper. Un-der-Secretary of the Colonial Secretary's (now the Internal Affairs) Department. He was a younger brother of Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., chairman of the First Wellington Military Service Board. Brirn in Wellington, tlw deceased was educated at Wanganui College, and possessing a most genial disposition, he was a pronounced lover of sport of all kinds. In his younger days' he was a well-known footballer. The accident which was responsible for Mr. Cooper's death occurred when a motor-car in which ho was returning from tho Trentham races became jammed between a tram-car anu a two-horso lorry. The motor-car was badly damaged, and Mr. Cooper was &- iously injured about the chest, ribs, and back. Tho interment of tho late Mr. Cooper will take place to-day at 'Karori Cemetery, the funeral leaving tho residence of- his mother, Mrs. K. C. Cooper, Main Road, Knrori, at 2.30 p.m.

Much regret was expressed in Masterton, says our special correspondent, when news of the death of Mr. 0. C. Cooper was received. Deceased was manager of tho stock department of the Wnirnrapa. Fanners' Co-operative Association, and was for a number of years local manager for Messrs. Abraham and Williams. He was for two years president "of tho Masterton A. and P. Association, was a steward of the Masterton Racing Club, and was attending Wellington a 6 a delegate to tho Pacing Conference. Owing to the death of Mr. Ormonil Cooper, ono of the managing direoto.-s of the Wairarnpa Farmers' Co.-uperativo Association, Ltd.. tlieij retail and wholesale premises will be closed to-day from two to four o'clock.
