TOWN-PLANNING EXHIBITION

During the last week in the present month a big Town-Planning Conference and Exhibition, promoted by tho Horn) Secretary's Department of the Queensland Government, is to lie held in Brisbane. Recently the Wellington City Council received a letter from the Department requesting thnt tho municipality should forward interesting views of the city or municipal works which mako , for the betterment of tho city for display at the exhibition, (he idea heiug that one town or citjr authority may bo progressing on certain lines that may bo beneficial to another, and that by .the mutual interchange of ideas a general uplift in city ■beautification and improvement- might be brought about. To that end the Town-Clerk' (Mr. J. It. Palmer) • is having prepared a series of views of different places in the. city which may bev found of interest to those attending the conference and visitors to the exhibition. Amoni; tho nhotographic views are those of Day's Bay (ten years ago and now). Oriental Bny (before and after the erection of the retaining-wall), Courtenay Place, the Motor. Dam at the Wai-: ntii waterworks, and general • views of the'city at different periods of its existence. The 'photographs will each Iμ 23 inches by .17 inches, and should later on bo a valuable addition to tho city's photographic. datß.
