I 1 EEGULATIONS AS TO THEIE PRODUCTION. ;. . A Gazette Extraordinary, published yese. tordny, contains the following regulations i as to the production of military papers upon demand by any constable:— 1. In these regulations "military-papers" • means, in respect of any.person:— _ (fi)'A cartificalo of his enrolment ' in tho Expeditionary, Force Reserve • established under the Military Ser- • vice Act, 191 C, signed by the Goveru- '" merit Statistician; or i (b) A certificate of his discharge in • consequence of disablement or '11- ' health from an Expeditionary Force J or from some other portion of His ■ I Majesty's forces, after service beyond r tho seas during the present war;'or j ■ (c). An instrument granting him , leave from military service .in an Ex-" - I p«litioriary. Force for a period not ■ i. '.yet expired.' • . 2. (1) Any man who may reasonably be , supposed by any constable to be. of miliy tary within the meaninE; of the Mili- [ tary Service Act, 1916, and-who is not . in uniform of the New Zealand Defence .' Forces or of some other portion of tho L mijitnry or navnl forces of His Majesty, i may be required by that constable there • aii'l (hen to produce his military papers, i (2) Any person who, on being remiircd . as aforesaid to produce his military papers, fails tn produce any sncji papers may bo detained by the constable and ' kepi' in custody for such time,' not exceeding forty-eight hours, as may be ! reasonably .required foy: the purpose of I ascertaining his identity and whether there are reasonable grounds for charring ' him with an offence against the Military [ Service Act, 1916, or tho Army Act. .
