A meeting of tho executive of the New Zealand branch of the British Red Cress Society and the. Order of St. John (Wellington district) was held this week. A vote of condolence with Lady Johnston upon the death of Sir Charles Johnston (one of tho trustees) wa.s passed. A printed eitraet from Colonel Rhodes's report was produced for the information of members; also copy of n'cablegram from him o( June 1!), estimating requirements for the next six months at ,lMfl,ooo. It was resolved Hint the local quota of £V2M\ after .inducting .£12,033 already sent, be. remitted. A copy of Colonel Ilhodes's cablegram of July 3, making recommendations as to the appointment of the reconstituted London Committee, was read; nl?o a enny of tho resolution of the Now Zealand Executive, expressing its approval. A letter from Mrs. Elder, tendering her resignation, was received with regret. A report was made by Mestlames Penrce and Wilfo_rd upon the progress of the "copper trail" collection, for which (hey were (hanked. A letter was received from tho officer-in-chnrge, making n levy for moneys expended in New Zealand for functional treatment, Wellington's share of the balance being ,C2!7, wlnVli amount tv.is passed for payment.
