FOOTBALLERS' WANTS
_a CONCERNING THR LYALL BAY GROUNDS. ' At last evening's meeting of the City Council the Reserves Committee reported that they had been waited on by a deputation from the -Wellington Rugby Foolball Union, on tho subject of the :entat charged by the council for the use ot the Lyall Bay football grounds. _Tha union stated that a fee of ,€5 ss. per ground for five grounds was beyond their means, and they aslced tho council to give them a lease of the Lyall Hay grounds for live years at a rental of .SI per ground per annum and they would undertake, to provide the necessary buildings and conveniences required for their payers. The committee recommended that the union be informed that their pro. posal cannot be agreed to. but that tho council will be prepared to agree that (he charge for the Lyall Day grounds for the present season be reduced to £2 2s. per ground, the council not to incur any expense in the matter of buildings, conveniences, or preparation of the ground . in any way whatever. ; The council agreed to the recommendai I '' ODI '
