During tlio succeeclJng year, however, the enormous amount of .£'3,064,232 was raised. and again the result was considered to be an extra'ordinary achievement. For the year ended October 31. 1917, t £3.47(,5C3 was raised—another half-million jump. These figures added together make the enormous total of J&5.J.51,790. The fact that now, or rather at tlm end of .Tune, the soerety states that Sll.OOfl.MO has boon railed, allows for some ,C2,ii(X),ooo hnving been raised i in tho eight months of the current year j which have exnired. which indicates that I the amount likely to be subscribed for tho whole of tho sociof.v's year will l»e somewhere in tho vicinity of .£3,750,000.
