THE CITY'S HEALTH
CHIEF INSPECTOR'S REPORT.
In the course of his annual report the ohicf inspector (Mr. James Doyle) of the Wellington corporation, states that during tlio last (Hnar\:ial) year there were 750 cases of infectious diseases reported during the year as under: Scarlet fever, 86; diphtheria, 370; enteric fever, 6; tuberculosis, 81; blood-poisoning, 15; cerebro spinal meningitis, 10; infantile paralysis, 1; opthalmia neonatorum, 1: total, 570. "The Ganitary condition of the city, says the report, "continues to be satisfactory. Spccial attention has been given to stables. Several persons wore prosecuted for allowing fly larvae to bo on their premises, and although I am unable to say that much has been done in the way of fly extermination, it is certain that the flv'nuisance was less during the summer. "Weekly inspection of all restaurants, hotels, fisli und butcher shops and all places where foodstuffs kio kept are made, and the inspector s reports are generally satisfactory."
