These are grants in money alone ann ! aro exclusive of tlio cost and upkeep ' incurred in connection with stops, ' transport! of wounded, niolor-boals, lios- ,! pilals, hospital ships, and trains, and : general outlay incidental to tho work ; of tho committeo amounting approxi- ; mately to two millions for the yea-i 1 , I and, assuming that at least half of this j stun is oxpeuded in tho war area, it would l give, a total expenditure of about j three millions in Allied countries. ' j Tho total income of tho committee for the year was .£3,474,563, and- tho total j funds available at tho end of the year •; amounted to <£2,205,159, including a con.lingency reserve of .£94,400. Tho results ] of "Our Day" appeal for last year were not available at dato of report; but a ; supplementary statement issued in Feb- j ruary last gives the sum of .£2,148,792 as the total result of _ that effort, of which tho overseas dominions and neutral countries contributed -£1,461,532.
