RED CROSS COLLECTION
WHAT IS REQUIRED' FOR NEXT TWELVE MONTHS. A clear statement of what moneys will Imve to be provided during the next, twelve months is contained in a memo, sent by the officer in charge of the Eed Cross Society to the committees at each centre, an extract from which is as follows:—The money to be collected in connection with the "Our Day" appeal is required for:— fa) The joint committee, of the British Eed Cross Society and Order of St. ,Tohn, which looks after our 6ick and wounded in France and at other theatres of wnr, where the. New Zealand branch is not represented. Tho expenditure of the ijoint committee last year was 413,672.355 12s. 2d., about £67,000 was contributed by New Zealand, which amount we hope to increase to .£IOO,OOO for this year. And for ' (b) The New Zenland branch of tins organisation. This branch, through Colonel R. Heaton ■Rhodes. Commissioner on n London committee of New Zcalanders, at tho special request of the parent body looks after onr own men in Great Britain. Colonel Rhodes'* cablegram to His Excellency the Governor-General .Tune 19, 1018, estimates the expenditure of this committee at the rate of .ESO.OOO for tho next year.
