THE MINING DISPUTE
DEPUTATION THIS MOKNING,
Representatives of the Miners' Tcilerulion were to have met in Wellington on Saturday to discuss further the demand made for increased wages for mine workers, but owing (o (ho bad weather the West Coast di'legiites wore ■ liable u> arrive- in time. The conference was postponed until to-day. A deputation, representing the Minors' Federation, lias arranged to interview the Hon. W. H. Merries (Acting-Minister of Labour) and the Hon. W. D. S. MacDonald (Minister of Mines) this morning.
An announcement in reference io the coal I rouble was made by Mr. K. Seinpk>, coal miners' agent, at iho meeting held in the King's Theatre. ln<t night, under the auspices of the. Labour i'arty. Mr. Semplo said that if the matter in dispute were not svttled within the next diiy or two it was intended to call a public meeting in Wellington, in order to lay the case for the miners before the people. "We are not going to take a slap in the faco lying .'own," remarked Mr. Semple, who added that representatives of the men from the various mining districts would show that tne miners were not receiving fair treatment.
