Selig, president of tho New Zealand Trotting Conference, arrived iu Wellington from Christchurch yesterday to attend tho sittings of the conference; which opens to-morrow. Mr. John Farrell, manager of J. C. Williamson's Pantomime Company, volunteered in Now Zealand for active service, but failed to pass the medical test. Mr. Farroll is an Australian. Dr. Greco P. Murray, of New York, who has been visiting tho South Sea Islands, arrived in Wellington by tho Moana from Papeete yostenUy,, Dr. Murray, who is staying at he Afitol Hotel, will'leave New Zealand shortly for a tour in Australia. Mr. William fl. Eae, Australasian representative of (lie London Polytechnic who has been nu u visit lo the United States, arrived in Wellington from ban Francisco by tho Moana yesterday on his votiirn journey to Melbourne. Mr. W. W. Corbel t, architect, of Kilbirnie, has received word that his youngest son, ficoree Harold Seymour Corbett, was woundcifat the Battle of Hamel. He enlislcd from the accountants' branch of the Sydney General Post Ofiice to join tho Australian Force in the Signal Corps. H« saw active service in fept. Ho was educated at Mount Cook School. Nesoii. Central State School, and at Nelson Boys' College.
