By tlie laat iuail.nntiltoat.ion of tlie arrivals of various Bailing vessels a'c San Francisco from Australian portii was received. Tho vessel liad covered a greater part of the Jtmrney, and was about ten days out, when she sprang a lcok in_the stern near the rudder post. A strong southerly wind prevailed at the time, and Auckland being the nearest port the captain decided to make for there- for repairs. A rathor interesting charter just announced is that of the big American wooden ship Aryan to load at San Francisco for Wellington. The Aryan arriyed at San Francisco as far back as November 23 laßt from Valparaiso, consequently until tho-present business was arranged she has been an Jdlo ship for nearly six months, a serious handicap when the present demand for freight is so ncute. Tho advent of the Aryan in New Zealand waters should be interesting, as she will bo tho largest wooden ship that has ever visited the Dominion.
