.— —♦— —— WON BY NAPIER OFFICER. Lieutenant P. V. Storkoy, of Napier, who is sewing with, the Australian Forces, has been awarded the Victaiia Cross for a deed which is ofhcially described as follows:-"When commanding an attacking platoon he observed, ou emerging from "a wood, 80 or 100 Gcimans, with several maohme-guns, holdin" up the advance of his troops ou his ■'•Wit. Uβ had only six men, but Lieutenant Lipseomb, with four men, joined him, and he decided to attack the enemy flank and rear. The two ofbeere and the ten men charged with Ue bayonet, Lieutenant Storkey m the lead, and expelled the enemy. They killed or wounded 30, and captured three olhcora and 50 men and tlie machine-guns. Lieutenant Storkey's courage and promptness, and the skilful attack removed a dangerous obstacle to the advance, .and were a great inspiration to lite rrtuiiinder ol th« park." He went to Australia, in iill2 and took up the study of law at Sydney .• University, earning us. living meanwhile as a clerk in the University office. Ho left on active service in 19 U and became one of the .now famous lifth \ustralian Brigade.
