Major Me. waught (who is a nephew of the late Key. .lames McNaught, D.D., of Glasgow) has had considerable experience in organising work. In (ho .years 1908-9 hc_ represented what was then the"National Defence League (the late Lord Roberts's movement}, as organising secretary and.lecturer in New Zealand, to educate public opinion in support of compulsory universal military service for the youths of the. Dominion. Live branches were established in all citiesand provincial towns. . A monthly mngiwiii'! was printed, issued ami clrculat|ed,to members of Chambers of. Commerce, public bodies, clubs and the institutions. Major McNaught is a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Caledonian Society, and Wanganui HighlandCtups. For'throe and a half vears he has been area group officer in tin-Waiiganui-Mnrton district, and recently discharged .in pursuance of the policy of the military authorities not to re. tain (lie sen-ices of officers hoMin-j field rank, when staff corps and junior officr/M are returning from active service abroad, and are available for homo service duty.. Major McNaught enters upon his new duties immediately, and will be formally welcomed at a social gathering next week.
