SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION
A meeting of (lie council of the Sunday School Union was held last evening, Mr. C. 11. Barrett, vice-president, occupying the chair. .It was reported that a series of district conferences had been arranged- for, and were beiiiur conducted. The Hccretary reported satisfactory response to the letter sent out regarding the securing of i'nuds for tho support of an agent in the back blocks. ]f the friends still to be approached moke anything like liberal donations, it is likely a start iu a small way may be made soon. The question of appointing trustees of any moneys given or bequeathed to tJie union for investment as an endowment fund was deferred far a fuller meeting. The examination set down for July (1 is receiving attention from most of tho schools. Considerable trouble has been caused by three- competing courses of lessons, and it was resolved to convene a meeting in respect to this at an early date, and try and arrange that ail schcols use the same course next year. Long service diplomas were recommended to he granted to Mr. and Mrs, i S. Boxall (Trinity Methodist, Newton), with fit and '19 years' service respectively to their credit, also to Mr. Geo. Mor-1 com, Mr. and Mrs J. Eose, Mr. mid Mrs Joi'don, Mr. T. Morcom, Mr. T. Pike, Mrs. \\. M Pike, Mrs. T. S. Davies, Mrs. T. Pike, Mr. J. W. Rose, and Miss Thomas; who have served terms of from 25 to 53 years in the Blenheim Methodist School, the averago J term being 36 years. The support of the union was given to the project of a .Sunday School choir competition at the November competitions.
