:■/. STOEEMEN'S DISPUTE. t The Wellington Wholesale Storemen and Packers' Union industrial dispute came up yesterday for consideration by . the Conciliation Cpuncil. The Commissioner (Air. W. A. The understanding .was arrived at that any agreement reached in Wellington ehould cover an area inside a thirty-mile radius. of the chief post office. "'" The following oity firms cited were struck out on the ground'that they did not employ any workers coming within : the scope of the award :-.H. and G. Anderson, Craig and Co., A. E. Kernot, .' -.Ltd., Consolidated Dental Co., Ltd., and , Mathorno, Eartridgo and Co., Ltd. The union olaimed increased wages and 44 hours as a week's work. The employers in their counter-proposals objected to'the union demands, and suggested that the present award should be renewed as far as the same was applic- , ■ able,, with certain alterations' 1 . A new ~; clause governing hours was suggested as follows:—"Except where otherwise provided, an ordinary' week shall consist of « hours, and an ordinary day's work shall not exceed nine hours." It is also , ; desired that the preference clause should ' -De deleted.
