Elliott has resumed his position on 'the honorary staff.

Councillor .1. Godber, who has not been well lately, has been granted Ihroo mouths' leave of absence from tho City Council.

Mr. C. C. Odlin lias received cablo advico from Ijondon that liia son Stanley, who went amy with the Twentyseventh Matfliine-Gun Specialists, has boon wounded in tho feel, and is now in hospital.

Major W. H. Fletcher, 11th liegiiuent (Taranalri Bifles), has .been awarded tho Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal, for over twenty years' service.

At yesterday's meeting ot the Hospital Board Dr. W. E. Herbert, one of the staff of honorary surgeons, was granted leave of absence during the time ho is away front Wellington on military duty. Dr. Herbert was thanked for his past services. '

It was. reported at the Wellington Hospital Board yesterday that Dr. 11. D. Robertson, tho newly-appointed radiologist, would arrive in Now Zealand during July. Dr. Piobertson is coming from England.

Mr. G. Nicol has Wen appointed a clerk on the staff of the Wellington Hospital Board, vico Mr. J. A. Nattn,.who has been called up for military service.

Councillor J. 0. Shorldnd has been added to the Special Milk Commitleo of tho City Council.

Mr. N. R. Cleland has been reappointed a member of tho Taranaki Land Board.

Mr. Francis RichnKl Russell, formerly chief inspector of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile. Agency Co. in New Zealand, whoso death at East Melbourne at the age of 63 years, was announced on Wednesday, was a native of Cork, Ireland. He went out to Australia when a youth with his father, an Anglican clergyman, and on completing his education, began- to learn the banking business. About the year 1901 he went Homo as London manager of the National Bank of Australia, and also became connected with tho London Board of the New Zenl-md Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Jn 1907 ho came to Now Zealand, as chief inspector of that company, and retired from its service at the end of last January, owing, to ill-health. He has loft a widow, two eons (ono of whom is a doctor on active service with tho Imperial-Forces), and three daughters.
