ALLOWANCES FOR MARRIED MEN
(To the Editor.) Sir,—l noticed a letter in your paper of June .22 regarding the Class A, Second Division, paying' 103. per week .toward the upkeep of the children .of Class C, Second Division. I am- a married man without any children, and I might inform "Eoseneath" that it ie_ no fault of oars that we have no children. I have already been away to tho war, and am •unfit for further service, and I for ono am not in favour of Class A paying for tho upkeep of Class C's children. I say if the Government are unable to pay for the upkeep of thefo children while their parent is away fit the. war, then conscript the man with money who is more able to pay than some of the Class A men. I think that the allowances for married men arc not sufficient, and if "Eoseneath" thinks so. well, ho must bo able to Hvn on next to nnthrn;. 3fy wife in about one. of tho best housekeeper.- that I know of, and the allowances allotted to me were barely sufficient to keep the house going, unless a man has a banking account to fall back on.—T am, etc., EETUENED. June 23. _________
