THOS. MOORE ANNIVERSARY
For Hie clioir competitions at the Town Hall next Saturday afternoon in connection with the Thomas M>ooro anniversary, no. fewer than five schools have entered choirs for the Begg- Challenge Shield and four for tho Bristol Challenge Shietld. A large miniber of entries have also been received for the solos and duets. For the elocutionary section some 20 entries have been received. For this section the late Mr. Sommerville, of Auckland, left a handsome cup for competition. It is now on view at Ihe Catholic supplies shop. 9 lloulcott Street. The concert, on Monday night promises to bo one of a high order, judging by •the programme which has been arranged. The best load talent procurable will contribute quartets, including one of purely male voices, so seldom heard nowadays, trios, duets, and solos. Mi'. Kevin Dillon will contribute an elocutioliary item. In keeping with the anniversary every item on the programme will be a Moore item. The box plan opens at the Bristol this morning.
