CROWNING VICTORY FOR THE • ITALIANS FAR-REACHING RESULTS EXPECTED ■ANOTHER GERMAN BLOW MR. LLOYD GEORGE PREDICTS '■ ANXIOUS MONTHS ' To-day's dispatches from, the I'alia.n. front give a cleaier indication of the magnitude of the Austrian defeat on the Piave, nltlough it is yet too early to give accurate estimates of the enemy's losses, as the situation is still being exploited by the Italians. The Austrian defeat has become a disaster, affecting the enemy's moral on the battlefield, reacting to the further detriment of the internal situation in Austria-Hungary, and embarrassing the German High Command in its plans for the next Western offensive, which, by the way, Mr. Lloyd George states is imminent. In a speech in the House of Commons the Prime Minister dwells on the gravity of the issues at stake, and while expressing satisfaction- and confidence in the outlook, declares that the next two months will give anxious conoern to the Allied High Command. The next German blow, he says, is a matter of a few days, if not of. hours.' - Mr. Lloyd George also refers! to the state of Russia, and indicates that tho question of intervention, to save that nation from the Germans, must be seriously considered.
