"Social" at Dyerville. A very pleasant, gathering win held in tun .Dyenillc Ihill on Hominy evening, when Privates T. 11. ]'. J.Voy and J, Desmond wore Riven a "welcome home." Holh soldiers were wounded at Pnsechendnele, .mil both speak very lurlilv of llio splendid treatment they have received everywhere. Mr. 11. Daysh, on behalf of tho res-icioms of Dyervilb and the surrounding dislvicts, walco.ned the two soldiers back, and Privates Davoy' and Desmond suitably replied. Supper was provided by Ihe ladies, and dancing and vocal items filled in a. ycj-y pleasant evening. Music ira<s prodded by Mrs. Nicholson, and Mr. i{. Warien wiisM.C. Mrs. J. Collie and Mr. und Mrs. Dawson were responsible for the arrangements for the evening, mid are to be congratulated on the result of their efforts. Plain and Fancy Dress Dance. A plain and fancy dress danco wus bold in the Ohnriu Hull on Friday night, in aid of the- Copper. Trail, and, considering the very unsettled weather, was well attended. Several parties from .lohnsonville and Makura helped to increase the attendance. Dancing took place until a liito .'lour. Tho musical programme was contributed by the Misses Trotter, Kita Bryant, and Ngaia Bryant, also Mr. jr'icld. The following characters were represented:—"Britannia," Mrs. Wakeiiekl; "Fairy Queen," Miss Elsie Monks; "Folly," Miss Vi. Bryant; "Good Luck," Miss .1). Bryant; "Ued Cross Nurse," Miss Edna Monks; "Irish Girl," Miss G. Bowler; "Dutch Girl," Miss E. Trotter.
