All the news from Italy to-day is of good promise. The'Austrians, etill held on the mountain i'roiit, are in increasing difficulties on the I'iave line, and have suffered heavily under Italian counter-at-tacks. Their losses since the offensive opened are estimated to be five times greater than those of the Italians, and it is stated that their re-, serves'have .-been thrown into tho battle, whilo Italy's are still intact. ■ On behalf of the British Empire,- Mr. Lloyd George ha 3 congratulated Italy on the great success of her armies and the co-operating FrancoBritish • forces in repelling an offensive conducted with the whole strength of the Austro-Hungarian armies. ■ .Apart from the continued development . of the Allied aerial offensive only, minor events are reported in the West-ern-theatre.
