GERMAN COLONIES
(To the Editor.) Sir,—There is one view of the question of the return of the German colonies which I have not seen diseased in your paper. Is this a war to end war? If we rely on a league of nations after the I war to enforce peace, why keep the GerI man colonies? In that case r we shall be only embittering the Germans for no good purpose, and sowing seeds of trouble for our children and grandchildren. Of course, if we do not believe, in the possibility of peace being enforced, our action in regard to the German colonies in the Pacific is quite understandable, but we should know what we do believe. In. writing as above I am referring to the colonies in the Pacific. -The treatment of_ tho natives by tho Germans in Africa raises a different question. Perhaps some abler pen than mine can expound this subject more fully. It seems to me that \va do not believe that this war will end war.—l am, etc., W. J. TENNENT. Masterton, .Tune 19, 1918.
