The Conciliation Council was occupied to-dav hearing an application by tho female section of the Canterbury f'rinters' and Bookbinders' Union for nn award. The Commissioner said this was tho first application in Canterbury for nn award affecting women only. An agreement was arrived at on tho lines of tho Auckland award, but Ihe questions of preference, piecework, and registration were referred to the Arbitration Court.
