The Wellington Education Board, in its annual report, "records -with mingled feelings of gratitude, pride, sympathy, and regret" that sine© the issue of last report the following members of tho board'B staff have laid down their lives: Captain W. J. Clachan, sole teacher, Takapu; Sergeant S. W. Dempsey, assistant, Clyde Quay; Private P. K, Sl'Caw, assistant, Petono D.H.S.; Gunner W. C. Okeby, pupil teacher, Brooklyn; Driver J. Wilson, probationer, Roselieath; Captain D.C. Fovler, assistant, Normal School; Lieutenant J. S. Marsden, assistant. Terrace; Corporal G. G. Matheson, solo teacher, Pirinoa; Rifleman E. M. Eraser, solo teacher, Grassmere; Corporal C. C. Jenkins, solo teacher, Tauherenikau; Troope- H. 1. C. Davie, solo teacher, MauriceviUe; I. Lvons, student, T.C. 'Tho board has lost twenty-ono members of its staff by death at the front.
