TO GUARDIANS OP MOTHERLESS CHILDKEN. AA'hen the scale of allowances to tho dependants of parried men was first drawn up, if. was recognised that the guardian of the motherless children of a soldier should be in much the same * financial positioncas the wife of a soldier, and the rats of allowance was fixed at Is. a day, this being .the separation allowance then given to a. wife. Since then the wife's allowanco has been increased to 3s. a day, but the allowance to tho guardian of motherless children was not increased at the same time. Cabinet yesterday agreed to tho increase of tho allowance to tho guardian of motherless children of a soldier to- 3s, a, day, tnfl rate allowed to a soldier's wife.
