THE SPIRIT. OF. SACRIFICE
Sir,—ln The Dominion yesterday it was my privilege to do something in a small way to help tlio ladies iviio are collecting 'bottles and tins to raise money for sailors' comforts. It has since been pointed out to mo that one very important hint was omitted from the story. I should have said that the bottles should be washed! A gre;\t many are,, but yet, I am told, ladies of the committco spend hours of their timo wash- < ing bottles. Well, Mr. Editor, if I hail thought tlio hint was necessary I would have hinted. The essence of the sacrifics is tlio trouble—the very little troubleinvolved in the making. And so, if the! gentle bottle-donors who are making an. out-of-scason spring-clean of their top shelf in the pantry will in the goodne?:? of their hearts carry if possible theirkindly efforts a little further—te the tnj> --they win relieve some very hard-work-ed ladies in the Sydney Street Schoolroom.—l am, etc., "WI."
