DRAFTED ALIENS IN AMERICA
PROBLEM OF NEUTRALS. Washington. June 10. An amendmert to the Draft Laws, specifically exempting citizens >f neutral countries, has been found necessary. Leaders in the.Senate announced that a serious situation had arisen over tho War Department having construed the Draft Law to mean that unless a neutral olaimed exemption when he registered he would not he exempted afterwards. Many neutrals had been drafted, and some neutrals who had been drafted have protested after being called up for service. Some of these protests had foand their way to their home Governments, with tho result that contention had arisen between the United States anil certain neuirals, particularly Sweden. Arrangements were being made to provide the necessary amendment in the law.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assa. NOBEL PEACE PRIZE} RUMOURED AWARD .TO THE POPE. (Rec.
