INTERNAL TROUBLES OF AUSTRIA
FREQUENT MUTINIES IN THE ARMY POLITICAL CHAOS INCREASING (Ree. June 17, 11,45 p.m.) : London, June 17. Tho "Daily Chronicle" Zurich correspondent states that tho Austrian frontier is again closed. Smuggled newspapers show that the Austrian Slav prisoners from Russia have produced a highly mutinous feeling in many parts of Austro-Hungary, particularly among tho Slav units under German officers. A battalion of Slovaks belonging to tho Seventh Infantry Regiment mutinied nt Oudenburg, shot their officers, and pillaged tho town. " The mutiny was sunpressed after several days of systematic trench warfare. Czech soldiers mutinied at Rumberg, and fought a pitched battle. A regiment of Hungarian Serbs mutinied at liVnfkireher. In all cases tho German officers wero tho first victims. Meanwhile political chaos is increasing; Tho majority of the deputies are against the Government, and the Premier, Dr. Seidler, is afraid to risk a general election. Everything points to a new period of repression—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. POPULAR DEMAND FOR PEACE. Amsterdam, Juno 15.
