ANNUAL EEPOBT. The seventeenth annual report of the Kosenoath and Oriental Bay Ratepayers' Association- says that in consequence of the continuaaice of tho war wany necessary works to improve the district hKft had to be postponed.; nevertheless the association has eudeavoured to place before the City Council tho most necessary and urgent works. At the request of the association the City Council provided a brick fireplace and spring water tap for the use of picnickers in Ihe vicinity of Point.Jerniiighiuii. Efforts have been made during the year to improve tho roa-1 between Point Jerningham and Evans Bay. The council has informed the association that this will necessitate and extension of the Esplanade, and as a good dell of preliminary work will bo necessary some little time must elapse before this work can be done. The sum of .£IOO was placed on the estimates for the improvement of Upper Grafton lioad, but owing to the shortage of labour tho Citv Council have so far been unable to carry out Hi is work, but it is hoped that during the ensuing year tilts necessary improvement will be put in hand.

Tho committee notes the great improvement which hiis been carried out by the council in constructing the splendid breastwork, handrail, and steps at tho lower end of Grafton Koad; when tho kerbing, channelling, and footpath are completed this will be greatly appreciated. The City Council have decided to place the sum' of JioOI) on the estimates for the current year for the erection of up-to-date conveniences for both sexes near the. tram terminus, and it i« trusted that, the council will bear in *ind the association's that the quarry sito be reserved for ;i recreation ground for Ihe district. During the year the City Council have carried out. a suggestion to tf-cuve a piece nf siround adjoining the late Mr. Monaghan's property, givVriq residents access from CrosMwt Koad to" the Town Belt.
