ON TRIAL FOR TREASON
EX-LOJMI MAYOR OP SHEFFIELD IN COURT. London, Juno 13. At Bow Street Polico Court, Sir Joseph Jonas was charged that on various dates , between September 1, 1913, and June 10, 1918, ho conspired with Charles Vernon ami others to contravene tho Official Secrets Act by obtaining and communicating for purposes prejudicial to the State information useful to the enemy. He was remanded till Wednesday. Jonas is a weakly old man, and ho appeared to feel his position keenly. He employs hundreds o£ men at his steel works, and has been a most generous donor.to the Sheffield University: A eon holds a commission in the British Aiiny.-Aus.-N..Z.
